IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL NON-LIFE MASTERS
Effective January 1, 2010 the requirements for attaining Life Master status will change.
The new requirements will not apply to ACBL members in good standing whose dues are current as of December 31, 2009,
and who maintain continuous membership in the ACBL until they become Life Masters. What are the new requirements? Read More...
As of January 1, 2010, the requirements for attaining Life Master status will change to 500 total masterpoints, of which, 50 must be gold or platinum, 50 red, gold or platinum, 75 silver and 75 black.
What does this mean to you?
If you are not a Life Master and your ACBL membership is not active as of December 31, 2009, you will be required to fulfill the new Life Master requirements.
It also means that if you let your ACBL membership lapse after January 1, 2010, before you become a Life Master, the new requirements will apply to you.

You Could Be Part of ACBL History
The 7th edition of the Official Encyclopedia of Bridge is in the works and is scheduled for publication in late 2011 to coincide with the 75th anniversary
of the founding of the ACBL.
The biographies section of the encyclopedia will be different from past editions, emphasizing personal information (interesting hobbies,
accomplishments outside of bridge, etc. ) as much as trophies and masterpoint holdings.
Perhaps you have hiked the Appalachian Trail, visited all seven continents or once played professional table tennis.
These are the kinds of personal items that will make the bio section more readable.
We haven't decided yet on the ultimate criteria for inclusion in the biographies section,
but with your help the next edition will be the best ever published.

Hi, I guess you might want to know why I play duplicate Bridge!
well the answer is! This is my hobby. I play bridge because it is my substitute for my sporting days and competition in them has gone the way of the dinosaurs. However I love to follow them on TV or go to live sporting events when i am able to!
I play duplicate bridge on the weekends just about every week of the year.
Sometimes I play tournaments on some weekends., and I use my vacation to set up my bridge tournament activity.
This following week 4-13-09 thru 4-20-09 we have a tournament in Gatlinburg Tenn. It is one of our most popular tournaments of the year in the ACBL.
The ACBL standing for the organization that gives us master points for placing well in a tournament session(s).
The ACBL stands for American Contract Bridge League.
You receive a ACBL magazine monthly with a page showing your current Masterpoint ratings and or points gained oveer the last Month. There also is aw ebsite where you cango to see results of tournaments or your avccount information. To explain duplicate bridge there are 2 directions people sit at the time. you have 1 pair (2 players) for each direction for each table involved in the session.
A pair is either North-South or East-West, signified bty the table no 1 thru the total no's of tables
playing in the session or event; as an example 1N-S or or 7 E-W. I can explain more specifically,

Hi,
I played in a bridge tournament this weekend. It featured pair games on Fri and Sat and A Knockout starting Fri afternoon going thru Sat Night. and then swiss Team games on Sunday.
A 48 bd play thru. We played 6 matches w/8 boards at each match.
My results
We were knocked out on Fri, so I played with one partner in a separate pair game for Sat Morning.
we didn't place. I played on Sat afternoon with another partner and we took 2nd pl overall in Flt B as a result we are going to play on Fri nights game as a regular partnership and maybe more when tournaments come up in the future.
Sunday we won 2 of the 6 matches and missed finishing in the flt B overall standings.
Even though we didn't do that well we had a good time.
My niche is duplicate bridge maybe you can share share your nichee and follow my blog for mor articles on games of other kind also. I would love to follow your blogs also

Some people may like to know how they are rated.
To get Masterpoints you must play in club duplicate games, sectional, regionals, or National Tournaments. If you have any questions or do nor understand please feel free to comment and ask them i will be glad to reply with an answer or if i can't answer it i will research it and reply to your question

***Online points count towards rank advancement - however, no more than 1/3 of the requirements for a particular rank may come from online play. For example, to make Club Master requires 20 MPs - a player would need 13.33 (or more) points from face-to-face competition in addition to the 6.67 (or more) earned online - any online points over 6.67 would not count towards earning the rank.
